| Manga sales up in the UK! | Wednesday, 14 June 2006 at 10:01 by Mark Mc! | Manga sales are up in the UK! Antara News has reported on the growing popularity of graphic novels and manga in the UK, "Nielsen BookScan shows sales of graphic novels and manga have shot up from just over 100,000 units ($2.8 million) in 2001 to nearly 600,000 units ($10.3 million) in 2005." This news is even more surprising as British comic sales have fallen over the last couple of years which has been put down to "lack of inovation," but British fans seem to be placing their pocket money in the hands of their Japanese counterparts which has seen this recent rise in sales. Titan Books and Tokyopop are two of the leading publishers right here in the UK. |
